Rogelio de los Santos, Managing Director, is a Mexican national and founding partner of Alta Ventures Mexico. Mr. de los Santos is a serial entrepreneur with 18+ years of experience in diverse areas, including fostering entrepreneurship, mining, logistics, education and entertainment. Because of this experience, Mr. de los Santos was brought on by vSpring Capital (www.vspring.com) as a Venture Partner and Entrepreneur in Residence. Before joining vSpring Capital, Mr. de los Santos was Founder and CEO of Xtreme Cinemas (www.xtremecinemas.com), a cinema chain focused on small and mid-size cities in Mexico. Xtreme Cinemas achieved the second highest sales per screen of all cinema chains in Mexico. He later led the sale of the company to Cinepolis, the biggest theatre chain in Latin America, in 2007. Previous to Xtreme Cinemas, he founded and now serves on the board of Instituto para la Capacitacion y Certificacion, a standardized testing services company focused on workforce foundational skill development.
In 1999, Mr. de los Santos founded Dalus (www.dalus.com), a workforce training company. Dalus built and operated training centers inside industrial parks throughout Monterrey, Mexico. Dalus’ business model was to partner with trade associations like the American Welding Society, the Surface Mount Technology Association, among others to train and bring the Mexican workforce up to international standards. Mr. de los Santos sold Dalus in 2001.
Currently, Mr. de los Santos is an investor and board member of IOS Offices. IOS operates the largest serviced office center in Latin America with 65,000 square feet of ultra-modern office space in Monterrey, Mexico and a 33,000 square feet center in Mexico City. IOS was established to help companies grow from start-up through their growth stages. IOS is home to hundreds of companies that range from one employee to very large corporations (www.iosoffices.com).
Mr. de los Santos currently participates as a mentor in Endeavor Mexico and serves on the board of Enlace E+E, Mexico’s top two entrepreneurial mentor organizations.
During college Mr. de los Santos co-founded and was CEO of the national collegiate entrepreneurial organization called Generacion Empresarial Mexicana. Mr. de los Santos received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in 1992 and a Master in Business Leadership from Duxx Graduate School of Business Leadership in 1998.
